Help Topics / Who can Record a Question or Answer?
Who can record a question or answer? To record, you must create a profile and identify yourself as a Black male. This gives you a “Participant” profile. Those who are not Black males can still create a profile, listen to the conversations and save favorites. This is a “Witness” profile. You can create a profile, listen to conversations and save favorites with this acocunt. A Participant profile will activate the camera and upload functions.
Why can only Black males, “participants,” ask and answer questions?
For many years, media images have only allowed for a limited amount of Black male voices to be heard, so we wanted to create a space where Black men were free to “participate” and express themselves without interference. In this way, we’re giving people the opportunity to see complex and authentic images of Black males rarely seen in American media.
